Without warning, Nintendo held its first Nintendo Direct of the year this week. The opportunity for fans and owners of a Switch to fill up on announcements without really having expected it. And as usual, the Japanese giant presented many things.
What to remember?
Let’s be honest, it wasn’t the most exciting Nintendo Direct. It nevertheless provided news of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”, probably the most anticipated game on Switch this year. So to wait, Nintendo has agreed to offer some unpublished images of the sequel to “Breath of the Wild”. In the same vein, we were able to discover the first images of the gameplay of Pikmin’s new opus.
In the “novelty” section, Nintendo played the nostalgia card since we are entitled to a remastered version of Metroid Prime, originally released on GameCube, and the addition of GameBoy and GameBoy Advance titles* in the catalog of “Nintendo Switch Online + Additional Pack” subscription. Good news in both cases: it’s already available. For Metroid Prime, it is the downloadable version of the game which is available on the Nintendo eShop, it will be necessary to wait until March 3 for the physical version.
Finally, let’s also note a new game for the Layton series (“Professor Layton and The New World of Steam”), an adventure-platformer signed Disney (“Disney Illusion Island”), the return of a classic rhythm game (Samba from Amigo: Party Central), an investigation and puzzle game (“Ghost Trick: Ghost Detective”) or even the return of the King of all Cosmos (“We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie”).
