## Archyde Exclusive Interview: Swedish Cross-Country Skiing Superstars Secure Early World Championship Berths
**Today we have a special treat for our readers: an exclusive interview with Anders Byström, national team manager for teh Swedish Cross-Country Skiing Team.**
With only 70 days remaining until the 2025 Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, excitement is reaching fever pitch. In a strategic move, the Swedish national team has announced the early selection of four skiing stars who have secured their spots, allowing them ample time to prepare and optimize their performance.
**Anders, congratulations on announcing this talented quartet. Can you tell us more about the rationale behind selecting these athletes so early?**
**Byström:**
“Like two years ago, we choose to present some names to the WC squad already now before Christmas. The reason is that we wont to give these skaters extra time to prepare for the WC and thus a calmness to be able to perform and also possible when it comes to Febuary.”
**Impressive! These athletes have certainly earned their spots. Can you tell us a little about each of them and what makes them stand out?**
**Byström:**
“Those who are now selected are both reigning champions who thus have their own free places at the World Cup,but also active players who have already performed at such a high level during the first period of the World Cup that they are a given in the World Cup squad.
Johanna Hagström’s early selection is particularly noteworthy. Johanna has consistently proven her prowess this season, securing a win in the sprint at the World Cup premiere in Ruka and a second-place finish in Lillehammer.
At the last championships, Johanna Hagström has had to fight for her place right up to the final selection, but this time she has impressed so much that we see her as one of the five ladies who will compete in the sprint at the WC.”
**Johanna, congratulations on securing your spot! How does it feel to know you’ve already earned a place on the team?**
**Hagström:**
“It was really great fun to get the news, even though I might have been a little bit aware of it. It is clear that it is great to secure a place in the squad, not least to be able to set up a training plan for the WC already now, where you don’t have to top your form likewise before the World Cup to succeed in securing a WC place. Now it can rather be a fully different focus towards Trondheim.”
**That’s fantastic! So much can change in the lead-up to a major event,so this early confirmation must be a huge relief. What are your thoughts on the upcoming World Championships in Trondheim?
**Byström:**
“The Trondheim championships promise thrilling competition, with races ranging from sprints to 50km freestyle mass starts. The complete Swedish team roster will be announced closer to the World Cup week in Borås in february.
