Teachers and university workers in Argentina called for a new strike day for 48 hours, with the aim of putting more pressure on the Government of Javier Milei to comply with the required salary demands.
The union continues to fight for an increase in salaries, so its activities will cease on August 20 and 21. In addition, a general assembly is planned for August 23 to decide the next steps to follow.
The decision is added to the 72-hour force measure that was carried out last week due to the lack of agreement in the joint negotiations.
Local media report that teachers and workers in the sector are considering organizing a new Federal University March in September, after the demonstration they held in April.
This week’s strike will have the support of the National Federation of University Teachers (Conadu), the National Federation of University Teachers, Researchers and Creators (Conadu Historica), the Federation of University Teachers (Fedun), the Confederation of Workers of Education (Ctera), the UTN Teachers’ Union Association (Fagdut), the Argentine Federation of Workers of National Universities (Fatun) and the Union of Argentine Teachers (UDA).
