This is why she decided to submit her resignation and leave the teaching profession for good.
“I will not finish the year,” Ms. Groleau said straight away during an interview with Noovo Info. The hope of saying that things will get better is no longer there.”
She now says she is looking for a job that would allow her to eat well.
“The most difficult thing is to return to studies in another field,” laments Ms. Groleau.
In addition to the salary losses, the teacher who is regarding to end her career explains that the organization of the classes convinced her to permanently abandon the profession, while around half of her students need specialized services.
Several resignations to come?
Several teachers might follow in the footsteps of Ms. Groleau in the coming months, warns the president of the Montreal Association of School Directors, Kathleen Legault.
In his eyes, if the teachers are not satisfied with the new agreement, they risk leaving in turn, in the midst of a staff shortage.
“It’s worrying,” she said.
Several teachers might suffer a huge shock from January 4, the date they will be deprived of pay.
According to Stéphania St-Philippe, a mother of five children, teachers will be fed up and will not “give their 100%” in class.
“Because they didn’t get what they wanted,” she concluded.
