The teacher was on sick leave for a few days, she was in shock and suffered bruises. The boy was suspended until the end of the fall break, Education Director Isabella Penz confirmed on Tuesday.
During the incident, the boy also attacked a classmate, but the girl was not injured, according to media reports. The six-year-old comes from a difficult family background and was suspended. What will happen next will be clarified in a so-called helpers’ conference, where experts from different directions come together.
“Especially when it comes to violence, you always have to question why a child acts like that,” explained Penz. In the current case, with a child who is only six years old, one should definitely consider what sense a suspension would make: “School is often the only place of stability and security for such children.” One possibility, for example, would be accommodation at another school location with close supervision.
