The Tour of Guyana caravan is expected this Wednesday in Mana. A city steeped in history, but resolutely turned towards the future. Mana is the gateway to Bas Maroni, between Cayenne and Saint-Laurent du Maroni.

The history of Guyana is inseparable from that of Mana. Mana, located on the outskirts of Saint-Laurent du Maroni, the second largest city in Guyana. From a small town, Mana became prosperous thanks to Anne-Marie Javouhey, founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint-Joseph of Cluny. The municipality was created in 1828.

Mana is a commune with an agricultural vocation. She has an area of ​​6,332.6 km2. Located at the mouth of the Mana River also calledi the river of a hundred leaps. The town is located 240 km from Cayenne and 60 from Saint Laurent. It is populated by almost 11,000 inhabitants.

The population is cosmopolitan, from several waves of immigration (the Hmong for example) but also from Surinam. Sixteen ethnic groups in total are counted. They are divided into two urban centers Mana and the village Anne-Marie Javouhey.
It is possible to reach it by two departmental roads (R8 and R9). Mana is one of the municipalities of Guyana Regional Natural Park. Its mayor is Albéric Benth.
