Taylor Swift concerts cancelled after attack threat

The two men were reportedly preparing an attack at home. The police discovered this when they searched the home of one of them, a 19-year-old man from Austria. During this large-scale search, they found chemical substances. The age of the other man is unknown.

Terrorist group IS

In the house of the 19-year-old man they saw that he had joined the terrorist group Islamic State earlier this year. This is a group of very religious people. They believe that they are allowed to use violence to establish their own state in the Middle East. They want everyone there to adhere to their very strict rules. For example, music and social media are forbidden and girls and women are allowed to do almost nothing.

A special anti-terrorist unit of the police always investigates these kinds of cases. They had this man in their sights for some time and therefore kept a close eye on him. In his house they also saw that he was busy preparing an attack on a major event in the Austrian capital Vienna. He, together with the other man, is said to have targeted one of Taylor Swift’s three concerts. She was supposed to perform there on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Concerts cancelled

Although these two men have now been arrested, the concerts have been cancelled to be on the safe side. Swifties with a ticket will get their money back. The fans of the American singer are sad, but understand.
