Kika and Leiner no longer count for Mr. Benko, otherwise why should he sell the company. If you look around a bit in the company books of the buyer group, you can easily see that the construct is quite extensive and therefore difficult to understand. In any case, I think that both the Big Four (auditing companies) and the financial and tax auditing departments with such companies are very challenged. But you know that. I’m not even talking regarding the 2,000 or so people who are now losing their jobs. That’s tragic, but probably manageable given the current job market.
What I am concerned with is quite simply the fact that the Corona-related tax deferral of 150 million euros, which might be serviced at 25 percent in the event of bankruptcy, is now to be borne by the taxpayer. The insolvency compensation fund will probably also have to step in to fully satisfy the employees’ claims. All in all, a costly affair for the state. The main thing is that René Benko has collected (unconfirmed) 400 million euros for the group of companies. Actually, he should pay 75 percent of it to the state. He knowingly sold an ailing group. This is favoritism for this gentleman over the taxpayer. Why is this just accepted? Where are the ethics?
