The deadline starts today 9/10, as their Panhellenic Federation (POEIATA) received yesterday, October 8, 2024, all of the stickers, thus giving the starting signal to the drivers to receive and stick the relevant markings.
These are the new stickers that all taxis must have, but which have caused a strong reaction from the Taxi Federation, with drivers describing them as “unnecessary” and “too big”.
However, AADE and the Ministry of Finance have sent their own “messages” that the measure is mandatory and is not subject to discussion.
The sticker
It is recalled that these signs were produced by AADE, at zero cost to the taxi owners and meet the specifications of the corresponding markings that have been installed on taxis in many other European cities (Barcelona, Stockholm, Budapest, Madrid, etc.).
Within 5 days of the expiry of the deadline, the primary associations that received labels are obliged to send to AADE a list of the persons liable to receive the labels from them together with the registration number of these vehicles.
Sticker or fine
Despite the backlash, taxi drivers will have to place the special stickers on the rear right window of their vehicles, informing consumers about the obligation to accept payment cards from motorists.
In fact, in case of not affixing the sticker, a fine of one thousand (1,000) euros is provided.
