In recent days, approximately 100,000 taxpayers have received an erroneous proposal for a simplified declaration. “An error has occurred at a subcontractor”, said the Federal Public Service Finance on Thursday. “Those affected will receive the correct information this week.”

“This is a technical error by a subcontractor responsible for printing, putting in envelopes and sending the simplified declaration proposals”, explains Francis Adyns, spokesperson for the FPS Finances, following the dissemination of the information by VRT NWS. Taxpayers then received a proposal addressed to another person.

The people concerned – regarding 3% of those who receive a simplified declaration proposal – have been identified and the error is in the process of being corrected. “They will normally receive a new letter this Thursday or Friday, first with an apology and a new correct proposal for a simplified declaration”explains Francis Adyns.

The spokesperson stresses that this is a technical error and that the Ministry of Finance has the correct information from taxpayers.

Finance will send approximately 3.9 million simplified tax filing proposals this year.
