Taxes 2022: are you one of the taxpayers who will receive a refund this Tuesday?

After a first salvo on Thursday, July 21, some taxpayers will in turn receive this Tuesday, August 2, a refund by transfer from the tax authorities. Here is who is affected.

More than 13 million households will have a good surprise on their bank account this Tuesday. In effect, after a first salvo on Thursday July 21, some taxpayers will in turn receive this Tuesday, August 2, a refund by transfer from the tax administration, or a check, after having paid too much income tax during the year 2021, recalls in particular Le Figaro.

Who is concerned ?

Two situations can give rise to a refund, As stated on the tax administration website:

  1. You are entitled to a refund of tax reductions or credits for certain expenses incurred in 2021 such as, for example, donations to charities, expenses for home employment, childcare or rental investments. In this case, the amount reimbursed will correspond to the balance of the tax reductions and credits to which you are entitled taking into account the 60% advance which may have already been paid to you in January 2022;

  2. Your deductions at source, made throughout the last year, were greater than the final amount of your tax. This may be the case if, for example, your income has fallen and you have not reported it to the tax authorities or if you have been late in declaring the birth of a child which entitles you to a half share additional. In this case, the amount reimbursed will correspond to the overpayment of tax deducted at source in 2021.

Tax transfers will be sent, “in most cases, either July 21 or August 2, 2022”, warns the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty in a press release published on Monday July 18. . They will bear the wording “REMB TAX REVENUS” on the bank statements and will be indicated as issued by “DGFIP FINANCES PUBLIQUES”.

Note that interested parties whose tax authorities do not have bank details will receive a check sent to their home.
