Rome hosted two races of the Formula E championship last weekend, and Stellantis took advantage of the event to show the world its promising electric supercar. The prototype of the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore coupe was brought to the track by the head of the concern, Carlos Tavares, although he did not drive through “hot” circles. By the way, from 2023, Maserati will become a participant in the electric championship.

As for the pre-production coupe, it appeared to the public in almost the same light camouflage as on photos month ago. In the second generation, the Maserati GranTurismo will retain its recognizable silhouette and body proportions, but the headlights and taillights are smaller and the front air intake is now oval. According to preliminary information, the Folgore version will have an 800-volt battery and three 1200 hp electric motors. This coupe can accelerate to “hundreds” in less than three seconds, the maximum speed is more than 300 km/h. There will also be versions with internal combustion engines.

The entire range of the second generation Maserati GranTurismo will be produced at the Fiat Mirafiori plant in Turin (the Levante crossovers are now made there), although the first generation cars were produced in Modena. According to the plan, the Folgore electric range will expand rapidly: in the same 2023, an electric version of the crossover will appear. Maserati Grecalefollowed by a battery-powered supercar by the end of 2025 Maserati MC20 and new generations of Quattroporte and Levante models. By 2030, Maserati is expected to switch completely to electric vehicles.
