Taurean Prince returns for two years with the Timberwolves!

After a decent first season on the Minnesota bench, Wolves executives seemed convinced by Taurean Prince’s performance off the bench. Extended to sixteen million dollars over two seasons, the rookie is back alongside Karl-Anthony Towns & Co.: good news for both camps, finally a little stability.

Tim Connelly, Minny’s new president of basketball operations, wants Wolves to become a stable franchise with solid foundations. And around the stars Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, you have to succeed in building with owls role players, lieutenants who will do the job. Luckily, Taurean Prince has been effective this season by stepping away from the pack when defenders were focused on Minny’s two best players. He is already familiar with the system and the stars of the team, what do people want? With 7.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1 assist in 17.1 minutes on average over 69 games – and similar performances in the Playoffs with slightly less playing time – the former Baylor is a size reinforcement on the wing (post 4/3) of the bench, behind Jaden McDaniels and Jarred Vanderbilt. It’s not the most spectacular signing from this Free Agency, but it’s a move that should help Minnesota stay in the playoff race next season. This is Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN who announced the extension, and this time everyone believed it, his phone was not stolen.

On the side of Wolves and its executives, we are trying to build a stable workforce. And this stability, Taurean Prince seeks it too. It would be time for him to settle down following a very hectic start to his career. Looking at his CV, we can see that the boy has been carried around in good trade currency. Drafted 12th by the Hawks in 2016, Atlanta sent him to the Nets three years later once morest Allen Crabbe. The boy comes out of two very good seasons at almost 14 pawns on average, but the Hawks prefer to exchange him for a crustacean two weeks following the 2019 Draft. Over the last two seasons, the trips have continued: the strong winger has been traded twice, from Brooklyn to Cleveland, then last summer from Cleveland to Minny, to bring Ricky Rubio to Ohio. His last contract at 25 million dollars over two years was not perceived as a burden, far from it. And in this 2021-22 season in Minneapolis, he was able to do the job despite one of the shortest playing times of his young career. His first season at Wolves was a rainy one and the 4 position seemed to feel more and more comfortable with the Timberwolves as the season progressed. It is therefore Wolves’ second contract extension this summer following Patrick Beverley. Further proof of the stability sought by Tim Connelly and his colleagues.

Taurean Prince won’t be packing his bags for a long time, and that’s going to do him good following two seasons hitting six rounds of the country. The so-called inventor of the celebration « Night Night » by Stephen Curry, he says, seems to have found a new home in Minnesota. This Thursday, he will sleep soundly.
