For many people, the ARD station’s “Tatort” is part of a perfect Sunday evening. The cult series has been entertaining television viewers with the latest criminal cases and how they are solved since 1970. The “crime scene” on Sunday (December 10th) takes place in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Münster.
Inspector Frank Thiel (played by Alex Prahl) faces a very special challenge in this episode. The investigator must prevent the murder of a well-known author. But that’s not all, author Stan Gold is played by none other than actor Detlev Buck. But following the first few minutes, one detail really gets on the nerves of the television viewers.
“Tatort” viewers are beside themselves
The latest “Tatort” episode begins spectacularly, with Chief Inspector Thiel being shot in the first few minutes. Afterwards, a decision will be made at a meeting regarding the “post of Münster city clerk”. Author Stan Gold wins this award and almost dies of anaphylactic shock shortly followingwards. But instead of looking forward to the exciting case surrounding a planned murder, viewers of the cult series are only concerned with one topic.

At the beginning of the award ceremony, the moderator gives a short speech in which she explains: “81 great authors applied for the position of city clerk.” At first the situation seems harmless, everything seems to be fine. But the “Tatort” viewers are bothered by exactly this first sentence and vent their anger on the social media app X (formerly Twitter). The angry TV viewers write:
- “Third sentence, already gendered. We don’t want to hear that.”
- “Authors. I’m out.”
- “And there’s a lot of rumblings once more. I can not hear it anymore.”
- “Shit, the Münster crime scene was just being gendered…”
- “Great, it would be even better if the gender garbage were eliminated.”
- “Not even two minutes have passed and there’s already a fight going on. That’s it, ciao crime scene.”
- “Who is changing things here? The crime scene, of course. You can’t help it, it bores me.”
But a fan of the series rushes to the defense and writes: “I would like to have the problems that make people angry because of gendering.” The plot of the latest criminal case is probably pushed into the background on this topic.
