Tasha Jason’s journey from Pakistan to ‘The Voice’ in America

Tasha Jason is the first singer from Pakistan to be selected to participate in the American singing competition ‘The Voice’.

According to Arab News, Tasha Jason, whose real name was Satish Ayub, grew up in Faisalabad, Pakistan. According to her, she was the only Christian girl in her class.

This achievement comes after a successful debut at the ‘Blind Auditions’ stage this month.

According to media reports, Tasha Jason left Pakistan with her family at the age of 12 and moved to Thailand and then to Ontario, Canada.

The 21-year-old singer finally moved to America a few years ago, where she lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with her singer-guitarist husband. His family still lives in Canada.

Tasha Jason wowed the judges with Leon Bridges’ song ‘River’ at the blind auditions for season 2023 of The Voice. Judges included Chance the Rapper, country superstar Blake Shelton and former One Direction band member Niall Horan.

Tasha Jason will next be seen in the rounds starting March 27. The show airs Mondays at 7pm and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.

In an interview with Zoom Arab News from Colorado Springs on Thursday, Tasha Jason said, “I was the first Pakistani to go on that stage and that in itself was a big thing, and it was really important for me and for my country.” It was a proud moment.’

“I hope everyone at home and in Pakistan will be proud of it because it’s a big deal for all of us,” he said.

Recalling her journey to The Voice, Tasha Jason said, she searched online about auditioning for the show and then did a virtual audition after which she got a response ‘very quickly’.

‘All of a sudden, I was in LA, I was standing on stage and I was shaking because I couldn’t believe I was standing in front of all these big celebrities talking to me,’ she said. It was a really quick trip. Like, I blinked and it was done. It took me months to prepare and get ready and now it’s all done.’

Tasha Jason has chosen Blake Shelton as her coach on The Voice. After the singer’s audition, Blake Shelton said, ‘Your voice is hard to describe. Which is the best thing. Tasha looks like a star. No one else looks like Tasha, and they’re on Team Black.’

Growing up, music was always Tashajisan’s ‘most important part of life’.

Most of his immediate family members were recording artists and musicians.

She recalls her childhood nights spent singing with her mother and siblings while her father played the harmonium.

She participated in almost every competition at the Beacon House International School System in Faisalabad where she studied while in Pakistan.

Jason dropped out after high school and never went to college.

About his incomplete education, he says that he really disappointed his mother who wanted me to study medicine.

Talking about her journey after leaving school, Tashajeson said, ‘I was in a lot of worship groups at church and did things like that. So if I’m honest, my only interests have always been music and sports.’

After moving to America in September 2021, Tasha Jason took a break from music to spend time with her husband and look for a job. He also worked as an agent for a property management company.

But watching Da Voice was a ‘wake-up call’, he said, and it drew him back into the world of music.

Today, Tashajisan says she has overcome all her fears: ‘Being a woman and then a Pakistani woman and then a completely different religion. [مسیحی] too.’

He said, ‘I just had to be where the music was, that’s all that kept me going.

She said, ‘When I stepped on the stage of The Voice, it was just an image of OK, if I can do it, if a little Pakistani girl can do it, anyone can do it. .

Tasha Jason said she is writing songs with her husband and hopes to release an album and tour one day.

He said, ‘The goal is that one day or the other. Spread the love we have for music to everyone, share a little bit of your story with everyone. That is the ultimate goal.’
