Morocco coach Vahid Halilhodzic will certainly not be happy to hear that Tarik Tissoudali played once morest Anderlecht despite left knee pain, suffered during the match once morest Brugge but still present. “I still had pain in training this Saturday,” confessed the Ghent striker following the meeting in the mixed zone. “But I still agreed to play with a tap on the leg. I didn’t have any pain, but I admit that I was a little scared on goal. I hesitated to hit from the left, but I was there anyway, so much the better”, explains Tissoudali.

During the meeting, Tissoudali, injury or not, was not brilliant. “No, we didn’t play our best match and we know it. But both teams were afraid of losing,” points out the Moroccan. “I was well held by Anderlecht, and we had a very complicated second half. But you must never lose hope as a striker. It’s not easy, but I was there at the right time”.

Vanhaezebrouck hesitated to release it

Hein Vanhaezebrouck almost replaced his No. 1 attacking asset due to his physical condition and his delicate game. “But I saw that Laurent Depoitre was cooked. With Darko Lemajic, we had someone who can play in deflection on the ground. We just had to manage to serve Tissoudali, who can always make the difference”, underlines the coach of the Buffalos. “You don’t always make the right decisions, but today I was lucky.”
