Launched by Apple in the United States in 2022 and recently arrived in the United Kingdom, it seems that Brazil will be the next country to receive Tap to Pay technology for iPhones.
Through the feature, merchants can use their branded smartphones as payment terminals. The function is compatible with iPhones XS and above and uses the NFC built into the devices to work.
As you can see in the disclosure image posted by a Twitter account, an InfinitePay card is used to make the payment on the iPhone – in reais. The Brazilian payments company claims that it is already testing Apple’s technology, but apparently, only for a select group of users.
With Tap to Pay activated, just open the application on a compatible iPhone and use the device as a real “little machine”.
Obviously, it will not be possible to insert a credit/debit card, but it is possible to make contactless payments, either with a card with contactless technology, or with an Apple Watch or iPhone.
With the start of testing, it is expected that the feature will be available to all Brazilian merchants very soon; who knows, maybe even on other platforms besides InfinitePay.
Check out some images from the resource tutorial below. They appear to selected users to test the service.
Also check out a video of the feature in operation.
In the United States, the feature works on several platforms, such as Wix, Square, Adyen and Stripe. There, the function requires that the compatible iPhone be at least iOS version 15.4 or later. In Taiwan, where the function is already available, iOS needs to be at least version 16.4.
And you, what do you think of the possible arrival of the resource in Brazil? Tell us here in the comments!
