A new watch brand has appeared in Geneva: Taos. Founded by Olivier Vaucher and Oliver Gaud, it offers unique watches, designed like works of art.

More than 200 hours, including at least 100 hours of engraving: to create this dial, the exceptional craftsmen of Atelier Olivier Vaucher did not count their hours. This attention to artistic crafts is the major asset of the Swiss watch brand Taos, launched last month, founded by Olivier Vaucher et Oliver Gaud.

Both bear witness to a long journey in the world of watchmaking. Since 1978, Vaucher and his workshop have worked for all the major watchmaking houses. He’s regouping 40 employees and around fifteen trades, including engraving, painting of miniatures, enamelling and setting. As for the watchmaker Olivier Gaud, it was he who founded the Oligo brand.

With Taos, they position themselves in the ultra-exclusive segment of this market. Their first collection consists of just seven unique watches entirely made in Geneva.

The model “Euphoria“has a paillonné enamel dial, a technique which consists of inserting a paillon, a thin film like silver leaf, between two layers of enamel, thus creating almost luminescent transparency effects. The piece “Kaleidoscope“alternates between hard mosaic stones and marquetry around a mother-of-pearl covered with a white gold applique engraved and polished by hand.

All watches are equipped with the same movement, with hours and minutes indication: the VOP318 automatic, operating at 4Hz and equipped with a comfortable three-day power reserve. This one is made by Telosdesigner and producer of high-end niche movements.
