The men of the fire had been called to intervene this Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. on the side of the rue de l’Égalité in Ellignies-Sainte-Anne, village of the entity of Belœil, following the fire broke out at the back of a farm. The intervention requiring a lot of water, a tank truck from the Blaton barracks had been called on the spot. Unfortunately, it will never happen.
Indeed, the driver unfortunately lost control of the vehicle which was traveling on Chaussée Brunehaut. Approaching the center of Quevaucamps, the tanker hit a first parked vehicle before doing the same with a second. The tanker finally ended up on a third parked Mercedes vehicle.
Inside the rescue zone vehicle were two firefighters who were slightly injured. Fortunately, they were able to get out of the vehicle on their own. They were nevertheless taken to the hospital to be examined.
The Leuze-Beloeil police descended on the spot to observe the scene. The 8,000 liters of the tank had to be emptied before the vehicle might be evacuated.
During this intervention, Chaussée Brunehaut was closed to traffic. The mayor of Beloeil, Luc Vansaingèle, also descended on the spot.
