The Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (TTA) region has become, today, a leader and a national reference in terms of renewable energies, thanks to its 5 wind farm projects already operational, underlined the DG of the Regional Center of investment (CRI-TTA), Jalal Benhayoun.
“The TTA region has become today, thanks to its wind potential (with an average wind speed of 9 m/s to 40 m/s) and solar (with a sunshine rate of 300 days per year), a leader and a national reference in terms of renewable energies, thanks to its 5 wind farm projects already operational with an overall power of 360 MW, or 13% of the installed power in Morocco, with an overall investment exceeding 8 billion of dirhams”, noted Mr. Benhayoun, who spoke at a seminar organized last Friday in Tangier, under the theme “Renewable energies at the service of the decarbonization of export industries”.
According to the official, this performance is also due to the new park under construction, in particular the photovoltaic park of Tangier, which will be installed on an area of approximately 72 ha with a power of 30 MW, and whose panels are manufactured in Al Hoceima by an American group. For this project, the wind turbines are also manufactured in Tanger Automotive City (TAC) by the company Siemens Gamesa.
