Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files hit theaters on Friday, March 11, but it was also leaked on Tamilrockers and other hacking websites. It is now available for free download from torrent sites. The film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Darshan Kumar among others and tells the story of exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. Earlier Valimai and Yami Gautam by Ajith Kumar and A Thursday by Neha Dhupia were also leaked on torrent websites and other portals that allow piracy including Tamilrockers.
Earlier, Allu Arjun-star Pushpa: The Rise – Part I was leaked on multiple platforms like Movierulz, Telegram and Tamilrockers, hours following its release on December 19, 2022. The action drama features big names like Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahad Faasil.
Many Bollywood films like Ranveer Singh’s 83, Salman Khan’s Antim: The Final Truth, Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi Ayushmann Khurrana’s Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and Ahan Shetty’s Tadap, all released in theaters, have also been hit hard by piracy.
Meanwhile, returning to The Kashmir Files, the film opened to quite a positive response from a larger portion of the audience. He even left a few in tears.
In a recent interview with News18, Vivek Agnihotri said: “This is a human tragedy of unimaginable proportions. Nobody ever talked regarding the human side of the story. No one has ever talked regarding when you allow terrorism to enter any society, what do you lose? You don’t lose lives. You are losing thousands of years of cultural heritage. You lose diversity… Whose loss is it? Is it the loss of Kashmir? Or is it the loss of India? Or is it the loss of humanity, that you have lost such great knowledge? That’s what my film is regarding. It’s not regarding Hindus or Muslims as people would like to believe.”
