The Tamaulipas Aerocluster applauds the improvement in air connectivity in the state, after learning of the arrival, next year, of a direct flight from Dallas, Texas to Tampico, but they consider it necessary to continue working on this matter, especially with routes to Nuevo Laredo.
“It is a very significant step forward that American Airlines has announced the arrival of its flight from Dallas to Tampico next March, but it is necessary to work on increasing the connectivity of the five Tamaulipas airports,” said Raúl Llamas Cervantes, head of the Tamaulipas Aerocluster.
According to the explanation, the Tamaulipas Aerocluster has been seeking to meet with state authorities to assist in the arrival of more flights to the state’s five airports.
Llamas Cervantes explained that in the particular case of Nuevo Laredo, whose airport is about to turn 52 years old, it is important to increase the operation of cargo flights, as it is the main land port between Mexico and the United States.
“The new airport groups of the Army and Navy need to delve deeper into the operational needs of the airfields they currently manage and, together with the State and civil society, seek the arrival of more air routes,” he said.
Recently, American Airlines announced that it continues to expand its presence in Mexico through a new service that will operate year-round from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Tampico International Airport (TAM) starting in March 2025 with Embraer 170 aircraft.
The state of Tamaulipas has five airports operated as follows: Nuevo Laredo (GAFSACOMM), Ciudad Victoria (GAFSACOMM), Reynosa (OMA), Tampico (OMA) and Matamoros (GAM).
