Earlier on Tuesday, while talking to journalists in Adiala Jail. The army However, they say that the army should appoint its representative, they will never talk to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

After the arrest of Imran Khan by NAB on May 9, 2023, there were violent protests across the country, during which other national and private properties, including the Corps Commander’s House in Lahore, were targeted.

In such a situation, reports of factionalism within the party are common and the contradictions in the statements of the leaders are clear, while many leaders have also given statements against each other.

Now, a new Pandora’s box has been opened after Imran Khan hinted at talks with the army last day and instead of negotiating with the army, the leaders of the ruling Muslim League-N asked him to apologize to the army for the events of May 9, 2023. And has advised to talk to political parties.

Government’s position

PML-N leader and senior provincial minister Maryam Aurangzeb called PTI’s founding chairman a ‘self-proclaimed revolutionary’ and said, ‘What does he want to negotiate with the army for?’

In a conversation with the media, Maryam Aurangzeb further said that ‘by breaking the statues of the martyrs, attacking the GHQ and the Air Base, and burning the house of the Corps Commander, apologize to the army, not negotiations.’

On the other hand, League leader and Punjab Education Minister Sikander Hayat says that if Imran Khan is serious, he should negotiate with political parties.

In a conversation with Independent Urdu, he said: ‘He who refused to negotiate until yesterday is now proposing to appoint a representative. A denial of PTI’s statement about the founder PTI’s talks is coming soon. According to his tradition, the founder of Tehreek-e-Insaf himself will appear to be reneging on the statement appointing a representative.

According to Rana Sikandar Hayat: ‘Being in prison, intellect comes to rest, but Khan Sahib has not changed. PTI is convinced of a one-man show and a one-man show does not work in a democracy.’

The position of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

In this regard, Tehreek-e-Insaf Punjab Information Secretary Shaukat Basra says that negotiations with political parties are meaningless in the current situation.

Speaking to Independent Urdu, he said: ‘Everyone knows that in the elections, Muslim League-N and People’s Party have a total of 36 seats, but the army won them and our seats were given to them. After that, the government was also formed by the army. Why should we negotiate with political parties when the role of the military authorities is the same in the whole process?’

According to Shaukat Basra: ‘Judges in this country are also seeking justice themselves. All the actions against us are taking place on the intervention of the military authorities, so until our three demands are accepted, the matter will not proceed.

“Our first demand is that the cases against all leaders and activists, including Imran Khan, who are political prisoners, should be withdrawn. The second demand is that an impartial election commission should be formed and the third demand is to conduct a transparent election again.

He added: ‘Which of these demands can a coalition government meet? Therefore, Imran Khan has thoughtfully offered to negotiate with the army. We do not trust any political representative. An authorized representative like DGISI should be appointed, who is capable of fulfilling our demands.’

Analysts’ Opinion

However, according to analyst Salman Ghani, Imran Khan’s demand is ‘non-political, frivolous and an attempt to divert attention from the May 9 cases’ and Imran Khan knows that there is enough evidence from the arrested party leaders in recent days. are, which may create more problems for the founding PTI and the party.

Speaking to Independent Urdu, Salman Ghani said: ‘After the May 9 incidents and rhetoric against Imran Khan’s military leadership, it does not seem possible that anyone will negotiate with them. The spokesperson of the army has also said many times that the talks of Imran Khan or PTI with the army are unjustified. If they want to talk, do it with political parties.’

He added: ‘I don’t think there will be any progress on the part of the army to talk to Imran Khan. Will the army forget the attacks on martyrs’ statues including GHQ? Can the accusations against the military leadership and the insults against the army abroad be put aside?’

According to Salman Ghani: ‘Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made a presentation in the House and even these days the federal minister has invited talks many times through his press conferences, but Tehreek-e-Insaf is against the army with which it wants to talk. was run. Now how is it offered to talk to them.’
