The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) has sent a talent scout team to find potential athletes who are competing in the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON).
Deputy for Improving Sports Achievements Surono said that PON 2024 is part of the formation of teams for the SEA Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics.
“We have sent an evaluation team of experts and friends who have the competence to be able to mentally scout the best athletes in this PON, both young and those who have potential for the Olympics,” said Surono as reported by BetweenThursday (5/9).
He revealed that the best athletes in the biggest sporting event in Indonesia will enter the long-term national training for the Olympics. In addition, there are also short-term or intermediate targets, namely the SEA Games and Asian Games.
This is in accordance with the National Sports Grand Design (DBON) which has created a road map until 2028.
He also hopes that young athletes will emerge who can compete with senior athletes at the four-yearly sporting event.
