The meeting emphasized the need to further strengthen cooperation between the State and the Regions in the battle of market controls, with the aim of de-escalating prices and the prevalence of healthy competition for the benefit of all households. Also, there is a common vision for the balanced regional development of the country and for a new production model.
The Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos following the end of the meeting he stated: “We had an extremely productive meeting with the Union of Regional Governors of Greece, its President, Mr. Tzitzikostas and the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Theodore Livanios. There are two main issues of cooperation with the Ministry of Development.
The first is that we have requested and agreed to the assistance of the Departments of the Regions in the fight once morest punctuality, the fight to reduce the cost of living and de-escalate the prices of products and services, but also the joint effort to implement the legislation with the which deals with profiteering in a range of products and oligopolistic situations. This battle must be fought by all of us together and we must achieve together the improvement of the standard of living of the Greeks.
Secondly, we share the same vision for the balanced regional development of the country and the need to jointly serve a new productive model, more dynamic, with green and digital transition, with innovation, with more exports and with a great strengthening of the role of industry. Our cooperation will continue. We announced that tomorrow the Regions will receive 27 million euros. There is a remainder from earlier applications of Development Laws in order to strengthen the development plans of several hundred enterprises.
The meeting was also attended by the Regional Governor of South Aegean, Georgios Hatzimarkos, the Regional Governor of Central Greece, Fanis Spanosthe Regional Governor of Western Greece, Nektarios Farmakis, the Regional Governor of Epirus, Alexandros Kahrimanisthe Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Christodoulos Topsidisthe Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, George Amanatidis, the Regional Governor of Thessaly, Dimitrios Kouretas, the Regional Governor of Peloponnese, Dimitrios Ptochos and the Regional Governor of North Aegean, Konstantinos Mouzouris.
