Takeover of Boadu is financially unfeasible for FC Twente

After receiving rejections from Lequincio Zeefuik and Noah Ohio, FC Twente has now set its sights on Myron Boadul. The 23-year-old striker has been under contract with AS Monaco since the summer of 2021, but he has not played enough here for a year and a half. The fact that Bruggink has moved to Monaco shows that Boadu would like a transfer to FC Twente, but then the club must also agree.

What might pose a problem is that clubs from Italy and Spain have also shown interest. Clubs that have more to offer financially than FC Twente. Boadu reportedly earns around 1.2 million euros per year. FC Twente will only be able and willing to cough up part of this salary. The compensation for hiring the player can also play an important role. Here too, FC Twente is a lot less strong than clubs from Serie A or LaLiga.

It is now up to Bruggink to convince the policy makers of AS Monaco that FC Twente is the best choice. This will then concern a rental agreement until the end of the season. As far as we know, it will not be Boadu’s fault. Many supporters would like to see a purchase option in the rental contract, but according to SciSports data, this is not very realistic. Although Boadu has played little, his Estimated Transfer Value is still 13.1 million according to the SciSports Career Tool. This makes a permanent takeover financially unfeasible for FC Twente.

Contrary to the opinion of some analysts, Boadu and Ugalde appear to be more similar in terms of playing style than expected. Football Transfers compared both players with SciSports’ Career Tool and it shows that the playing style is 91 percent comparable. The biggest difference is that Ugalde is more of a so-called target man than Boadu.

Although Boadu has not played much for a year and a half and has had his fair share of injuries, his skill is higher than that of Ugalde, according to SciSports. Boadu is rated at 69.8 and Ugalde at 66.3. According to the data, Boadu is a lot further in his development than Ugalde. However, the single Dutch national team will need some time to get back up to standard. The last time he played 90 minutes was on May 7, 2023. Then AS Monaco won once morest Angers and Boadu scored the second goal.
