There are no signs of Taken Days slowing downSong title or band member

With their light and melodic songs they quickly reveal their origins. TAKEN DAYS are among the newcomers in the punk rock scene and come from the pop punk stronghold of Orange County, California. The band was founded in 2017, has released two EPs so far and released their first album under Wiretap Records in March 2021, “Every Second…”. At the beginning of 2023, the three boys went back into the studio with producer Cameron Webb and worked on their current record “Any Time”.

First song “Atomic”, Brent Waterworth opens the album on the lead guitar with a strong riff on the high strings and frets, the vocals set an “Atomic Atomic” on the microphone and the verse and chorus are nicely multi-voiced . Landon Asbury really puts his foot down on the drums, especially in the chorus, and drives the whole song forward.

Speaking of Drums: they continue to hammer in the second song and open with a short roll on the toms. There are a lot of “Wohooo” choirs to be heard and once more, the drums really shine across the board with short fills, breaks and rhythm changes. In the bridge it becomes quieter for a moment and we hear a subtle delay on the guitar before it goes into a solo.

As agreed, with “She Wants More” the guitars greet us once more. A fat chord sounds and the lead guitar plays a lick in the foreground. Landon builds up the song once more on the snare and in the chorus it becomes nice and polyphonic once more with varied harmonies. Hammering guitars are added once more in the second verse, rocking properly and with a “Damn it, she want’s more” and a lick from Bernt at the end rounds off the song.

When difficult interpersonal relationships are sung regarding, one thing cannot be missing… that’s right: house parties. But beware of the plot twist, just don’t go to a party and especially be alone at home and then celebrate the whole thing properly! All of this is processed in “Dont Take Me Home”.

In the middle of the album it even gets a little harder and the lyrics become more serious with “Beyond This” and “Problem Child”. The guitars shred, the drums whip through and Corey’s bass also comes to the fore in the bridge.

But it’s also emotional! It starts with a lot of reverb and delay on the voice, with “Over Zelle Us” a nice phaser guitar in the background and Landon hits the drums once more. In terms of style, BLINK 182 from the 2003s, would be proud of TAKEN DAYS. The boys also end the album quietly with “Please Stay”.

Corey starts with a really nice delay effect on the bass, accompanied by calm vocals, before things get going once more in a pop-punk style in the chorus. The lead guitar is particularly cool in the second verse, creating an exciting atmosphere in the background with targeted single notes.

A successful pop punk album in Orange County style. The songs are well coordinated and mixed cleanly. Happy pop punk, not too aggressive, so definitely something for a nice spring or summer day with sun and beer.

Landon Asbury deserves a special mention, as he drives the entire album on drums – Shout Out!
