Take-Two has received a patent that describes the principle of creating huge maps. This was reported by the Gamerant portal with reference to the words of a reddit user under the nickname CoryLVV.
It is noted that this approach can be used in the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. Its essence lies in the fact that the map is divided into smaller areas. They are essentially separate worlds, but at the same time they are seamlessly connected to each other, and there is no frills when moving from one area to another. This algorithm will allow developers to implement not only huge cities, but also individual countries.
In early February, representatives from Rockstar announced that the creation of a new part of the GTA “is in full swing.” At the same time, the studio is trying to bring something new to the game, which would significantly distinguish it from past titles in the series. However, representatives of Rockstar said that they are not yet ready to share the details and the release date of the new part.
