Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, at an event in the city of Verona, expressed his opposition to the possibility of deploying troops in Ukraine, as expressed by French President Emmanuel Macron.
“I think NATO should not enter Ukraine” and “I hope it doesn’t happen,” Tajani said, adding that “going in and going to war with Russia means we risk a Third World War,” excluding dispatch of Italian troops.
“We defend international law and the freedom of Ukraine, but we do not go to war with Russia, we give Kiev military, economic, technical tools of all kinds, but going to war seems wrong to me and all Italians – and all people of common sense – they don’t want this”, added the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, while noting that “our Army (Italy) is doing well what it is doing in the Red Sea, protecting our ships, it is doing well in Lebanon, Africa and Iraq, is a bearer of peace and freedom, we are not at war with Russia.”
