[Reporter Lv Yixuan/Taipei Report]The love materials that Taiwanese people warmly helped Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Slovakia. A donation ceremony was held on March 22. The US$1.5 million donations and materials donated by Taiwanese people were handed over to the Slovak government. Several officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior, as well as the Deputy Speaker of the Congress Gábor Grendel attended the witness. With the administrative assistance of Sri Lanka, the materials were trans-shipped across the Slovak-Ukrainian border and will now be shipped to the Kyiv City Council.

On the 22nd, my representative to Slovakia, Li Nanyang, on behalf of the Chinese government, handed over US$1.5 million donated by Taiwanese people, sleeping bags and other materials to the Slovak government as assistance for the resettlement of Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia and their transfer to Ukraine for local use. The donation ceremony was held in the warehouse of the Ministry of the Interior at the distribution center of rescue materials.

Li Nanyang said at the donation ceremony that Taiwanese stand with Ukrainians, hoping that these materials and donations can help Ukrainian refugees overcome difficulties. He sincerely thanked the Sri Lankan government for showing efficient administrative work and providing prompt assistance. The materials raised by the private sector in Taiwan will be sent to Slovakia in batches and transferred to Ukraine. The donation of $1.5 million will be handed over to the official account set up by the Prime Minister’s Office for the relief of Ukrainian refugees, which will be transparently supervised and managed.

Li Nanyang also mentioned that in order to help Ukrainian scholars and students, the Ministry of Science and Technology of my country cooperated with the Academia Sinica to provide full scholarships for Ukrainian scholars and students, and applications were opened on March 16. Ukrainian refugees in Sri Lanka are welcome to apply.

Ingrid Brocková, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, relayed through Li Nanyang, hoping to express the sincere gratitude of the Slovak government and people to Taiwan, which is a timely rain for Slovakia to take care of the increasing number of Ukrainian refugees.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ou Jiangan stated that on March 17, the first batch of regarding 5.5 tons of supplies had been shipped to Slovakia; the follow-up supplies were delivered by DHL, and the daily volume of regarding 10 tons was sent to Slovakia, Poland and other shelters in batches.
