Xinhua News Agency, Taipei, May 16 (Xinhua) — More than 60,000 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia have been added in Taiwan for the fifth consecutive day, and the epidemic has not yet peaked. The daily number of local confirmed diagnoses remains high, and the “separation tide” affects more and more people. From the 17th, the epidemic prevention measures for close contacts in Taiwan will be loosened once more, from “3+4” to “0+7” mode.

On April 26, the Taiwan region adjusted the home quarantine of close contacts from “10+7” to “3+4” mode, that is, 3 days of home quarantine followed by 4 days of self-prevention. On May 16, the Taiwan Epidemic Command Center announced the “517 New System”. Kuanglie’s close contacts are limited to those who are diagnosed with living with their family members, and “0+7” management of “separation-free” is implemented for close contacts who have received 3 doses of the new crown vaccine. During the 7-day self-prevention period, those who go out must be tested negative within 48 hours, and the “3+4” mode is maintained for other close contacts.

The Taiwan Epidemic Command Center announced on the 16th that there were 61,754 new confirmed cases of the new crown, including 61,697 local cases and 57 imported cases; 29 new deaths were added. Nearly 20,000 new cases were added in New Taipei City, and there were more than 1,000 cases in 11 other counties and cities.

The epidemic in Taiwan’s campuses is spreading. Statistics from Taiwan’s education authorities on the evening of the 15th showed that the cumulative number of infected students in Taiwan exceeded 80,000, with more than 27,000 confirmed cases among primary school students. All 2,132 schools in Taiwan or some classes were suspended.

According to statistics, as of now, a total of 830,257 cases of new coronary pneumonia have been diagnosed in Taiwan, including 817,940 local cases.
