In a press release, the Land Affairs Department (DAF) informs that due to the electrical blackout, access to the data servers remains interrupted and will not be restored before Tuesday, November 28.

Consequently, requests for documents cannot be received and processed. Only dematerialized online procedures remain operational (OTIA, Easypay, etc.)

The whole of Tahiti is replenished with electricity.

An incident on the PIM 90 kV Punaruu substation of the TEP electricity transmission network is the cause of this blackout (similar to the blackout of 2019). “LThe 90 kV PIM substation is the heart of Tahiti’s electricity network, which is why major failures on this equipment have major consequences on the Tahiti network,” explains EDT in a press release.

At present, the Tahiti network remains split into two distinct sub-networks, contrary to ordinary operation. A 90 kV network supplying the city from Punaruu and Maroto and a 30 kV network supplying part of Punaauia, the west coast and the southern “Secosud” zone.

The network will be returned to normal configuration as soon as the faulty elements of the 90 kV TEP PIM return to operation. In the meantime, difficulties in dealing with operational hazards are possible.

But many school canteens have had to throw away or redistribute meals. The students only ate the desserts.

At least 50% of homes in Tahiti are supplied with electricity.

The gradual restoration of electricity can already be seen in certain municipalities, mainly on the west and south coasts of Tahiti.

The area between Faa’a airport and the Tipaerui industrial zone has just been replenished. Papeete will be the next zone, announces EDT Engie.

The restoration of electricity “in degraded mode” can already be observed in certain municipalities on the west coast of Tahiti, between Punauuia and Taravao. Work to restore power to the urban area of Papeete is underway.

Strategic and sensitive areas remain the priority of services and authorities.
