1658: The Peace of Roskilde (also called the Panic Peace of Roskilde) is concluded between Denmark, Norway and Sweden. It ended the Danish war against Sweden under Karl Gustav X, which had begun in 1657. Denmark had to vacate its possessions in today’s southern Sweden.

1968: Israel’s Foreign Minister Abba Eban announces that Israel has agreed to a mode of negotiation with the Arabs.
1973: The German ex-lawyer Horst Mahler is sentenced to twelve years in prison in Berlin for founding and participating in the underground group “Red Army Faction” (RAF).
1993: Bomb explosion under the second tallest building in the world, the World Trade Center in New York: Six dead and more than a thousand injured. Egyptian Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman is believed to be the mastermind behind the attack by Islamic extremists.
