Buffalo Sabers forward Tage Thompson suffered an upper-body injury on Wednesday and will miss National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star Weekend.
As a result, teammate Rasmus Dahlin will join the Atlantic Division roster and represent the Sabers at the event scheduled for Sunrise, Fla., Friday and Saturday.
Thompson stayed in the locker room during the third period of the last game, a 5-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Having forfeited a training session a few days ago, he saw his name put on the crippled list on Thursday. This season, the forward has tallied 34 goals and as many assists for 68 points in 50 games, while posting a differential of +15.
For his part, Dahlin ranks second among defensemen in the NHL with 14 goals and 55 points. Having played an average of 26 min 07 s per outing, he obtained 24 points on the power play. In Florida, he will be the sole Atlantic defender in uniform.
The skills competition will take place on Friday at 7 p.m., while the mini-tournament of stars will take place the following day at 3 p.m. The TVA Sports channel will broadcast these two events.
