“The mother of this year… Elli Zachos Takhtsi”, following being sold out all year at the Theater in Athens, is coming to Patras, specifically at the Orofos Theater for two performances on Tuesday, April 23 at 7 pm and 9:15 pm.
It is the monologue of Kiki Mavridou, based on the life of the mother of Kostas Tachtsis, directed by Vangelis Laskaris, with the award-winning Rania Schiza in the title role.
The show premiered at the VAULT theater in March 2022 recording consecutive sellouts and extensions from the start, as well as notable comments from audiences and critics. It traveled and was presented with the same success in the Experimental Stage of THOK in Cyprus, in Thessaloniki, at DI.PE.THE. Ioannina, Patras, Drama, Karditsa, Agrinio and Corinth.
It is one of the nine performances of the theater project “MY SON…”. A theatrical festival of monologues, inspired and artistic director by Dimitris Karatzias, which brings on stage mothers of great Greek men. A Festival dedicated to the memory of Chrysa Spiliotis.
SUBJECT OF THE PROJECT
Elli Zacho Takhtsi, mother of the great post-war writer Kostas Takhtsi, was an unruly woman, who all she wanted was to live free and be loved. Failed at both. She succumbed to the cruelty of her time and became crueler than it.
“His mother.” Disparaging, ironic, sarcastic address, but so intimate, so familiar. Said suggestively and always in a low voice. Almost whispering. Of those whispers that are stabs to the heart. But sometimes there are murders. “The son of this man”, Kostas Tachtsis, was murdered. As he is “murdered” in this world, that threatens to expose his hypocrisy.
“My own mother”, one of the least enlightened persons in the mainly autobiographical writing world of Kostas Takhtsis. On which he relied to write his most important work. The “Third Wreath”. Which constitutes, beyond a record and an unmasking of the holy Greek family. And if “Trito Stefani” is identified with Greece itself, the story of his mother, is identified with all the hidden secrets, which we keep tightly locked in dusty trunks, piled in the basements of our souls.

A 38-year-old mother, who was fatally wounded by the attacker as she tried to protect her nine-month-old baby, was among the six people killed in the knife attack at the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping center in Sydney’s east.
Both the woman and the child were stabbed by the 40-year-old, but she managed to give the baby to two men who rushed to help her. The 38-year-old was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later, while the baby underwent surgery for abdominal injuries and remains in a serious condition, along with seven other people.

The perpetrator does not appear to have had terrorist motives
In the meantime, in the latest update provided by the Sydney Police, he emphasized that, so far, there is no evidence to prove that the 40-year-old attacker, who is responsible for the murders in the shopping center, had terrorist motives or ideology.
The man, who was known to police, was killed by a female police officer at the scene of the crime. Police are certain he was acting alone. “This is not a terrorist incident. We are confident that there is no ongoing danger,” said the Police spokeswoman.
How a female police officer disarmed him
The role played by a police officer, who happened to be near the shopping center at the time of the attack on civilians, was described in his briefing by the local police representative in the briefing he provided to journalists.
In it, he said that the attacker, whose motives have not been determined, was initially found in the mall around 3 pm (local time), left and returned following 20 minutes, starting to stab people indiscriminately. Global shock has been caused by the unimaginable carnage that took place today, Saturday (13/3) in a shopping center in Sydney, with a 40-year-old man taking the lives of six people before being shot dead by a female police officer.
Among the dead was a 38-year-old mother who was identified as one of the victims of the bloody attack. She selflessly tried to protect her 9-month-old baby whom the attacker managed to stab. She herself breathed her last in the hospital, while the infant is now fighting his own battle to stay alive.
The photo of the 38-year-old mother who was stabbed to death in the shopping center of Sydney was published by the Daily Mail, plunging the public into grief, watching in amazement what is known regarding the massacre with the six dead citizens.
Mother Ash Good, 38, was among six people who died today at the Junction Westfield shopping center in Sydney’s Bondi when a 40-year-old man wearing a rugby shirt attacked them with a knife regarding 3.20pm ., before a female police officer kills him.
Her friend speaking to Australian media described her as a “simple and beautiful person”. “She was the best mom in the world,” he said.

The photos of the unfortunate mother
The photos that have been released show the bereaved 38-year-old woman holding her infant who is now frolicking in her arms.
A total of nine people, including Ash Good’s nine-month-old baby, suffered stab wounds. The infant is fighting for his life as he was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.
The eyewitness accounts are shocking
Scenes of chaos have been described by eyewitnesses following the bloody incident at a busy Sydney shopping center where a maniac killed six people and injured eight others.
The Westfield shopping center where the attack took place is a popular and busy shopping center in the east of Sydney’s central business district and is close to the famous Bondi Beach. Like every Saturday it was packed with visitors and especially families and small children.
“It was carnage…I saw a man stabbing indiscriminately”
“It was carnage…I saw a man stabbing indiscriminately,” a witness, who was in a nearby coffee shop with his two young children when the attack began, told ABC News.
As soon as people began to realize that some sort of attack was unfolding inside the Westfield mall in Bondi, shortly following 3pm, they began to flock to the exit of the mall to save themselves.
“It was crazy,” said one visibly distraught woman, as she described seeing an injured woman lying on the floor.
According to police, the assailant entered the mall minutes before launching his attack. The attack was finally stopped only when a female police officer confronted the man. He raised his knife towards her and then she incapacitated him by shooting him.
Jason Doctson said he heard some people “yelling and screaming, running” and started running following the officer. He said the man armed with a large knife started running towards them and all he heard was ‘put it down’ and then the female officer shot him.’ “If she hadn’t shot him, he would have continued his action, he was in a trance,” he added.
Johnny, 33, who was visiting the mall from the New South Wales Central Coast, said he heard a commotion while shopping and turned around to see a woman and her baby being attacked. “They are stabbing her. Everyone was shocked and didn’t know what to do,” he said. Nearby he thought he might make out another body on the ground, he said.
The injured woman managed to run into a convenience store and once inside, staff quickly locked the doors, he said.
“Some other customers of the mall took clothes and things to try to … stop the bleeding,” he said. “The baby only had a minor injury, but the lady was really bad… she was losing a lot of blood and she was panicking,” he added. “I hope he makes it.”
Rashdan Aqashah, who worked at the COS clothing store, said he saw a man holding a pole confronting the attacker at an escalator point. “I saw this guy fighting the killer. He was holding the pole, trying to throw a pole into the escalator,” the 19-year-old said. Mr Aqashah said “everyone started running” when the attack began to unfold. “I grabbed my manager to close the store door. It was right in front of our store,” he said.
What did the Prime Minister say regarding the massacre?
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during a news conference called the officer who subdued the attacker a “hero,” saying: “There is no doubt that she saved lives with her action.” “For all of us tonight, the horrific scenes at Bondi Junction are beyond reason,” he said. He added that the attacker acted alone and that his motives remain unknown.
What the police say regarding the perpetrator
Police say no clear motive has emerged for the gunman who killed five people and injured several others, including a baby. The police spokesman said the man was in the mall, left and then returned, at which point he began stabbing people. The ideology or motive has not been clarified.
“There is no evidence at the crime scene to indicate any motive or any ideology,” the police spokesman said.
Asked by a reporter if police were ruling out terrorism, Cooke said: “We’re not ruling anything out.”
