Taegeuk Pharm launches ‘Valen Tablet’, a treatment for abdominal obesity with herbal ingredients

[의학신문·일간보사=김영주 기자]Taegeuk Pharmaceutical has launched ‘Valen Tablet’, a treatment for abdominal obesity made of herbal ingredients.

Valenjeong (Photo) is a commercialization of ‘Bangpungtongseongsan’, an oriental medicine prescription listed in Donguibogam, and is used as a treatment for obesity. Its mechanism of action is to excrete waste products through urine, feces, and sweat, to remove the swelling of the body and abdomen, and to facilitate fat elements by increasing metabolism and basal metabolic rate. It is effective for the accompanying symptoms of high blood pressure (palpitations, stiff shoulders, flushing), obesity, swelling, and constipation, which are symptoms of patients with a lot of subcutaneous fat in their stomach.

The main medicinal ingredients of Bangpungtongseongsan are 18 kinds of herbal medicines including Angelica, Peony, and Cheongung. Among them, rhubarb, ragweed, and gypsum facilitate bowel movements, helping to relieve constipation and waste products, and gypsum and baekchul are effective in relieving swelling of the body.

An official from Taegeuk Pharmaceutical said, “Valen Tablet can be especially helpful for those who have a lot of subcutaneous fat in the abdomen and are constipated. It is preferable to do so,” he said.
