The Taco John’s restaurant, which has held the expression “Taco Tuesday” since its creation in 1989, decided to sell the rights on Tuesday to avoid embarking on a costly legal action, to the delight of rival companies.

“We’ve always been proud to be the home of ‘Taco Tuesday,’ but paying lawyers millions of dollars to defend our brand just doesn’t seem like the right thing to do,” said Taco John’s CEO. , Jim Creel, in a statement reported by CNN.
Given the abandonment of the legal action, Taco John’s however announced that it would donate US$40,000 to the non-profit organization CORE, which helps restaurant workers who have children.
