FOR.- Some retirees and pensioners who are outside Venezuela have had their salaries suspendedaccording to Professor Emiro Diaz, president of the Association of Retired and Pensioned Educators of the state of Táchira, who called on the authorities to be attentive to this situation.
He said that Nearly a million pensioners have had to leave the country due to the economic situation and for some time now they have been surprised that they do not receive the pension, nor do they receive any type of bonus.
“This is contrary to the law since the pensioner has every right to receive his pension regardless of his place of residence anywhere in the world,” he indicated.
He specified that there is supposedly an exchange of information with Saime and they have been suspending the salaries of those who decided to move to other countries where Venezuelans have arrived due to the political, social and economic conflict that affects the country.
Diaz recalled that many of the retirees are older adults who use that money to cover minor expenses such as paying for public services, although they are no longer enough to cover those expenses with the 3 dollars a month that they are paid for having served in the public administration.
Professor Emiro Diaz said that the situation for retirees and pensioners who are in Venezuela is becoming increasingly difficult, since 70% of them live off the remittances and aid sent to them by family members who are abroad. He added that the remaining 30% have to work or do security work, sell snacks, cakes or do other types of jobs to survive.
He stressed that 5 million 300 thousand pensioners of the Venezuelan Social Security Institute are at the extreme poverty thresholdsince since March 2022 there has been no increase in the pension, that is, they continue to receive 130 bolivars. He recalled that according to the United Nations (UN), those who earn less than 3 dollars a day are on the poverty line.
Diaz noted that in Venezuela the pension must be set in accordance with what is contemplated in article 91 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which establishes that the minimum wage must be in accordance with the basic basket and today the basic basket exceeds 500 dollars. Therefore, more than 29 minimum wages are required to cover the basic basket.
The educator denounced that the retirees dependent on the Government of the state of Táchira were excluded from a payment of 40 dollars, when the vacation bonus or the recreational bonus was deposited and, however, the government has not taken steps at the national level so that These resources can reach the retired educator. They paid the employees of the Ministry of Education, the educators of the Ministry of Education, but governorates and mayors of the entire country were excluded, however, there are already governorates in Venezuela that are processing that payment before Onapre, so who considers that the government of Táchira should do the same.
