Palencia, who is also a member of the border commission of the National Assembly of Venezuela, said that he has been inquiring with some transporters who operate in the main land port of the state and they have assured him that Between 800 and 1,000 people move there every day.

According to Palencia About 100 cars would be leaving daily.since intercity buses cannot travel along the road to the border due to the damage that occurred in the municipality of Capacho Viejo.

He added that intercity routes travel from the center of the country to the San Cristóbal passenger terminal and there passengers must take a vehicle to reach the municipalities of Bolívar and Pedro María Ureña and to the city of Cúcuta in Colombia.

“This is something that we are seeing with great concern because mobility has increased. We are told that there are again long lines at Saime for passport stamping on the way out of the country,” he said.

Border communities without public transportation

Likewise, Juan Carlos Palencia stated that those who live in the communities that are between the municipalities of Capacho Viejo and Bolívar They do not have public transportation service and they cannot travel to medical appointments or other commitments that they must routinely meet.

He said that this situation occurs because a section of the road in the municipality of Capacho Viejo collapsed a month ago and still The authorities have not completed the work that they are doing there. He asked the regional authorities to also address the 37 edge faults that the road leading to the border has.

He said that residents of different communities have expressed their concern because school activities will begin in a month and students will not have a way to get to school.

“This cross-border highway is the lung of the border. We want to invest in bilateral trade, but we do not have good communication routes,” he said.
