Táchira | Governor asks that political ideologies and religion be separated during the celebration of the Virgin of Consolation

In the framework of the celebration of the 224 years of the Virgin of Consolation in the Minor Basilica of Táriba, the governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, made a call to the community in order to ask respect for different political positionsthis in light of some events that occurred during the commemoration of the 414th anniversary of the Holy Christ of La Grita, on August 6.

During his invitation to the festivity, Bernal emphasized the importance of Do not politicize sacred spaces“Jesus of Nazareth said: ‘To God what is God’s and to Caesar what is Caesar’s.’ In the street we can debate politics, but in the church we are going to pray,” he said.

Bernal stressed that The holiday should be a time of devotion and respect, and not a platform for political slogans.“Let us not turn the pilgrimage into a political slogan. Let us respect God if we are true Christians at heart,” he added.

He also assured that the Governor’s Office and state security agencies will provide a full support for the event, guaranteeing security and order during the celebration.
