A Microsoft employee recently made a mistake. According to The Verge, it would be a senior product manager at Microsoft. The latter would have accidentally announced the arrival of a new feature on Windows Notepad or Notepad. The announcement was made in a tweet with a supporting screenshot.
However, the Microsoft official deleted his tweet just minutes following it was posted. But news sites like Windows Central and several Twitter users have already seen the post and relayed the leaked information.
The information should never have leaked
According to The Verge, the Microsoft employee posted a photo of a version of Notepad, containing tabs. In the caption of the tweet, he even enthusiastically wrote that “ Notepad in Windows 11 now has tabs with a speaker emoji.
Nevertheless, it would seem that, in its tracks, the senior product manager of Microsoft did not take into account an internal warning from Microsoft, yet visible in the screenshot, with the mentions “Confidential” and ” Don’t discuss features or take screenshots ».
Will tabs come to more built-in apps?
According to The Verge, this warning may suggest that the tab functionality is still in the testing phase. If so, Windows Insiders might have the privilege of testing it in early 2023. If the arrival of this new feature is confirmed, it will be one of the few integrated applications to obtain a tabbed interface.
Furthermore, if Microsoft decides to add this feature to its Notepad software, this might suggest that the Redmond giant will put tabs on more integrated applications. As a reminder, Microsoft added tabs functionality to its File Explorer a few months ago.
