On June 28, Yariana Andrade and Dervis Macias experienced moments of anguish when the Tabor stream, due to the rains, attacked their home. The wall, part of the patio and a bathroom were swept away by the current.
The couple lives with three children (aged 12, 9 and 3) on the main street of Tabor, next to the clinic, in the municipality of Pampán, Flor de Patria Parish. The back of their house borders the Tabor Creek.
Concern for the safety of the entire family and the possible loss of their home and belongings prevents them from resting.
During the weekend, with the rains, the stream was on the verge of overflowing.
Despite having requested help from the Mayor of Pampán to remove the debris that is blocking the passage of the stream, they have not yet received a response. Although the Civil Defense has been present, no local authority has assisted them.
In a statement to Diario de Los Andes, Yariana stressed that she is not asking to be taken to a shelter. However, she warns that if the ravine rises once more, it might destroy her house, the clinic and part of the trans-Andean highway that goes to Monay. Therefore, she urges the authorities to intervene and remove the debris.
