Szijjártó – “No closer to peace” – 2024-04-23 20:19:36

Sijjártó zu EU-Außenministern:

“The EU diplomats are reacting to the critical situation in Ukraine as if they wanted to start a world war.” This was the impression given by Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó at the meeting with his counterparts in Luxembourg on Monday.

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó: “All the arms deliveries have not brought Ukraine any closer to peace.”

“There is a strategy of arms deliveries that has been a complete failure for two years.” Almost without exception, there is talk of new weapons and supplies are desperately being “scraped together” from the warehouses. Szijjártó once once more made it clear: “All the arms deliveries have not brought Ukraine any closer to peace. On the contrary, this will only prolong the war, not to mention the risk of an escalation into a world war.” He condemned the “auction mood” according to which the EU is trying to outdo the announcements from NATO and the USA regarding support for Ukraine.

Szijjártó: “Everyone has to take a seat at the table!”

“In order to avoid ever new victims and destruction, diplomacy must finally take the lead.” Hungary is ready to discuss any peace plan. At the same time, the Foreign Minister warned that peace conferences would only have a chance of success “if everyone involved in the Ukraine war takes a seat at the table.” Szijjártó was most likely alluding to the peace conference planned for June in Switzerland, to which Russia was not invited.

“It is incomprehensible why in Brussels

and many other EUcapitals believes

this is ,our’ Krieg.

This is not only dangerous, but also wrong,

because not an EU or NATO member state

was attacked.”

Kiev’s “witch hunt once morest Hungarian companies”

Hungary continues to block money from the so-called EU Peace Fund. This applies as long as the Ukrainian authorities do not stop their witch hunt once morest Hungarian companies. After the OTP Bank was blacklisted as a “supporter of the war” for a long time, there are currently efforts to revoke the Richter pharmaceutical company’s approval for the distribution of a number of medications.

The Foreign Minister protested once morest discrimination once morest Hungarian companies and pointed out the fact that there are no sanctions in the pharmaceutical industry. It is therefore far-fetched that Kiev would interfere with Richter’s business activities in Russia.

Agreement with Iran

Regarding the situation in the Middle East, the Hungarian chief diplomat noted that there is now emerging agreement in the EU regarding an expansion of sanctions once morest Iran. At the same time, Szijjártó praised the responsible behavior of the Arab states and advocated avoiding any escalation in the conflict and maintaining the stability of the region.
