Grammy-winning artist SZA has revealed her future plans involve making music for a younger audience. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the top Dawg Entertainment artist declared her intention to fulfill her remaining contractual obligations by creating “peaceful children’s music.”
“To fulfill my last 2 album requirements I think I just wanna make peaceful children’s music n get outta here,” she wrote. “Then go be a farmer n donate the produce to underserved communities.”
This declaration may not come as a surprise to many, as SZA appeared on the beloved PBS children’s show Sesame Street last March. Showing her affinity for younger viewers,SZA had even tweeted back in 2017 about her desire to be on the show, later updating her followers to confirm she finally made it on.
Could this be a sign of a budding children’s music career for SZA? Only time will tell.
SZA Hints at Motherhood and Upcoming Music
Singer-songwriter SZA has openly expressed her desire to become a mother in the near future. In a 2022 interview, she revealed her hopes of starting a family “realy soon,” even if it isn’t within the context of a traditional relationship.
“GODS TIMING !!!” she wrote at the time on social media. “FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS AND SAY THEM OUTLOUD !!NEVER GIVE UP !! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE I BELIEVE IN YOU !!”
SZA explained that her decision stems from a desire to prioritize her own well-being while planning for motherhood. “And it’s not even like I’m trying to do anything that’s groundbreaking or nontraditional or like, modern woman,” SZA shared.“I just literally feel like it’s less stressful to think about like, ‘Who’s it gonna be? Are they trustworthy? Is this person going to really love me? Is this partner material?’ Versus being like, OK, this is the doctor I know I want to deliver my kids.”
Before possibly releasing new music, SZA is set to embark on a highly anticipated tour. She will co-headline the 23-city “Grand National Tour” alongside hip-hop icon Kendrick Lamar. The tour kicks off on April 19th in Minneapolis and culminates on June 18th in Landover, Maryland.
