The soft drink factory, Los Portales SA, has been paralyzed for more than a hundred days due to a lack of raw materials and now it is back with a new “star product”, bagged syrup. What is happening with the carbonated soft drink?
According to official media, the Los Portales SA entity launched a new production line in Guane and diversified its offering in response to the shortage of raw materials to produce its most in-demand product, carbonated soft drinks.
The factory, a leader in national production for many years, inaugurated a new production line at its plant located in the municipality of Guane, in Pinar del Río with the aim, according to them, of “diversifying its offer and finding alternatives to the shortage of some raw materials.”
Mario Venero, director of the factory, reported that the new line focuses on the production of syrups in bagsaimed at both the tourism sector and retail trade.
“We are launching the three most popular basic flavours on the market: cola, orange and soda,” explained Venero.
Syrup in bags, the new star product of Portales SA
After successfully completing the start-up phase of the new machines, the company is making adjustments to the entire process with the aim of starting stable, large-scale production of this new “star” product: syrup in bags.
Despite being in this testing phase, Venero assured that the new products are already being distributed in some tourist facilities.
They explained that the factory has a production capacity of one million bags per year, which will be available in five, ten and twenty litre formats.
In addition, Los Portales will also be investing in the production of flavoured water, a product that has gained great acceptance among tourists due to its ecological profile and the use of natural concentrates.
Currently, pineapple and apple varieties are being produced, and work is underway to incorporate melon flavour in the near future.
What about carbonated soft drinks? They explain that the limitations on raw materials have hit hard and “the lack of carbon dioxide has prevented work for about a hundred days.”
