“The disaster caused by the fire in Mr. Mitsotakis’ Attica seemed small to him, as can be seen from his statements in Chania, Crete, on the day of the celebration of the Virgin Mary,” comments SYRIZA in a statement.
According to SYRIZA, “Mr. Mitsotakis did not even manage to respect the holiday itself, since he did not hesitate to proceed with the highly provocative claim that the citizens who saw their properties destroyed are “fortunately few”. After all, he is the same one who declared last Tuesday that “we are trying to become better”.
SYRIZA comments that “it is obvious that the more than 100,000 acres, as well as the dozens of houses and businesses that were burned, are not enough for Mr. Mitsotakis to realize the extent of the destruction caused by his government’s policy.”
Finally, he states that “the only thing that is certain is that Greek society cannot wait for the whole country to burn in case Mr. Mitsotakis becomes… better. Nor can he tolerate any longer the government’s vulgar tactic of turning black into white after such a disaster.”
