SYRIZA: Polakis’ new attack on Linou – He insists and complains 2024-08-08 21:18:04

The independent member of parliament of Chania, Pavlos Polakis, continues to make insinuations to the member of parliament of SYRIZA, Athina Linou, regarding her charitable action to deal with the phenomenon of child poverty, through the organization “DIATROFI”.

Specifically, the Sfakian politician refers to money he receives from sponsorships without filing financial reports, while he complains that “AMKE Prolipsi, which belongs to Mrs. Linou and her husband, pays a monthly rent of almost 5,000 euros to a company (…) which belongs to to the same”.

At the same time, in his post on Facebook, he states that: “she received 700,000 euros from the NSRF while at the same time serving (according to her CV) as a Special Secretary in the Ministry of Education, under the governments of Papademos and Samara-Venizelos”.

Finally, she left a hint about the leader of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, since when she was asked why she was brought to SYRIZA and the committee, he replied “well, you asked him:”…

The SYRIZA Member of Parliament for Athens II responded yesterday (5/8) to the posts that Mr. Polakis has made recently, saying:

“For 10 days now, I have chosen not to respond to personal, slanderous attacks that distract us from the real problems of the Greek people.

I am happy, however, that the latest attacks give me the opportunity to re-present the program “DIATROFI”, which I started in 2012 and which provides free daily meals, while at the same time promoting healthy nutrition to children in the most vulnerable areas of our country.

To date, during 9 different governments under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, the program has given 18,700,000 meals to 198,600 children, in 9 regions throughout Greece. In the Region of Central Greece, in particular, more than 2,500,000 free meals have been given to schools in 40 areas, even in hard-to-reach areas. In a privileged society this need would not exist, or this gap would be filled by the state.

My life goal is for Greece to implement universal feeding for all students, through the state budget. The SYRIZA government instituted a similar effort in 2017 in the country’s primary schools, but unfortunately the nightmare of hunger continues. Even this year, in some schools in our country, food insecurity exceeds 50%. That is why, and I have already raised the issue in parliament 5 times, mainly in my speech on 12/15 in the debate on the country’s budget.
