SYRIZA: Polakis adds more fuel to the fire 2024-07-22 18:05:47

While Stefanos Kasselakis was in Epidaurus, watching Aristophanes’ “Plutos”, Pavlos Polakis – on the occasion of a post by Adonis Georgiadis in favor of Yannis Dragasakis – set a new… fire inside the party with a post that contained new insinuations about the ethos of Yiannis Dragasakis.

“Well, if Adonis Georgiadis also defends you, it is clear that you were the number one risk for the banking entanglement!”, writes Mr. Polakis at one point of his post -among other things against Mr. Georgiadis for the Novartis case- and concludes: “History is not rewritten. Georgiadis’ need to defend Dragasakis is simply very impressive!”

This confrontation is developing against the background of Stefanos Kasselakis’ disagreement with the imminent merger of Attica Bank – Pankritia, a stance with which the head of the Finance Department, Nikos Pappas, seems to disagree, who is said to consider that, in general, the restoration of Attica Bank’s past in the spotlight, especially during the years of SYRIZA’s rule, is not good for the party. It is, after all, known that at the last meeting of the Political Secretariat, both Nikos Pappas and the eight of Alexis Tsipras, who also filed the text against Kasselakis, expressed serious reservations about Koumoundourou’s negative attitude towards a fifth banking pillar.

Koumundourou, however, lets it slip that she will highlight the impending merger as a major issue of confrontation with the government starting today in the Parliament.

“Many of the issues included in the position of Yannis Dragasakis must be resolved. But they must be resolved within SYRIZA”, said Sokratis Famellos.

“He was an excellent politician. His loss is a loss for SYRIZA and a loss for democracy more broadly”, said Athina Linou, who is at a distance from both Stefanos Kasselakis and Pavlos Polakis, while pointing out the small-minded attitude of the leadership towards Yannis Dragasakis.
