SYRIZA: Kasselakis dissolved him via Zoom – The impeachment of Famellos passed with a narrow majority – Everything that happened at the explosive meeting of the KO – “President without a majority” say the “87” 2024-09-01 11:00:10

In the vote on Stefanos Kasselakis’ suggestion that Nikos Pappas take over the position of Sokratis Famelos, which was caused by the latter’s refusal to resign, a total of 17 MPs were in favor of the proposal and 12 against, while there were also four present. In short, the proposal passed but the associations are against the president and the split-dissolution is close.

Sources of 87 commented immediately after the vote: “President without a majority in K.O. Kasselakis. It has 17 out of 35 MPs.”

They voted for: Akrita, Apostolakis, Avlonitis, Vetta, Gavrilos, Dourou, Thraskia, Kasimati, Kokkalis, Malama, Meikopoulos, N. Pappas, P. Pappas, Poulos, Sarakiotis, Tzakri, Christidou

“No” were voted by: Famellos, Gerovasilis, Giannoulis, Kalamatianos, Kedikoglou, Kontotoli, Linou, Barkas Notopoulos, Xanthopoulos Panagiotopoulos, Psychogios.

Present: Zambaras, Karameros, Mamoulakis, Papailiou.

Essentially the result of the vote is 17-16 and naturally only a solid parliamentary group does not show such a thing and the split-dissolution is closer than ever.

The changes in the KO of SYRIZA

The new president of KO is Nikos Pappas, but with Sokratis Famellos now standing opposite Mr. Kasselakis. Among the radical changes that are taking place at the SYRIZA KO presidium, are included as new parliamentary representatives: Yannis Sarakiotis, Nina Kasimati and Giorgos Gevrilos. The three replace them: Nikos Pappa (who becomes president of KO), Theofilos Xanthopoulos and Dionysis Kalamatianos. In addition, Vassilis Kokkalis is appointed deputy parliamentary representative, I. Poulos coordinator EPEKE with Rallia Christidou as deputy.

At the same time, Mr. Kasselakis announced ahead of the conference “big changes”, “an end to left-wing measures”, while he indirectly “asked” Christos Spirtzis to resign, attributing to him leaks from the meetings in the party bodies: “Can the Ethics Committee it follows its procedure, but it is obvious that executives who express themselves in this way are consciously choosing to put themselves outside the party.

What preceded the KO of SYRIZA

Stefanos Kasselakis, at the KO meeting to which he was connected via zoom, removed Sokratis Famellos from the presidency of the Parliamentary Group and replaced Nikos Pappas.

This position fully confirms the report of the Free Press and Eleftherostypos.gr, which stated that the president of SYRIZA has fallen out with Famellos because he believes that he is playing more with the internal party opposition than with him. In fact, from… his planter in the group of “87” or something like that, he learned that in a meeting with Zoom that they had in the last few days, Famellos was proposed as interim president in case the balance is overturned in the Congress.

This made Kasselakis furious, because he considers that Famellos has been treated impeccably and more than that. They tell me, in fact, that what worries him is another split in case it… eats him, as the great danger for the president of SYRIZA is to lose the advantage that being the official opposition gives him.

The placement of Nikos Pappas as the head of the SYRIZA Central Committee was therefore made with the obvious aim of Stefanos Kasselakis to check the connections in the Central Committee of SYRIZA, as Pavlos Polakis has announced that he will file a motion of censure, so that procedures for the election of a president in the official opposition party.

What Kasselakis said in his speech

“I am determined to move on a new course of extroversion, with a modern SYRIZA of members, society, citizens. Today is just the beginning. And in this new course, I propose a new composition for the Bureau of our parliamentary representation, which I believe will strengthen our efficiency as a Group as well as our firepower. I therefore propose that the position of Head of our Parliamentary Group be taken by Nikos Pappas. I recommend Nikos for two main reasons. First, because Nikos is a respected economist with a PhD in economics from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. In fact, he did his thesis on the microeconomic effects of Greece’s demographic problem, which is very current. Nikos also taught at the University for four years.

We do not entrust our Economy to Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who has failed in the private sector, or Kostis Hatzidakis, who has never worked in his life. Their pernicious effects are now visible even to their supporters. We have the experience and knowledge to address the true field of the economy: The small and medium entrepreneur. The freelancer. The farmer’s. Of the wage earner who must live with dignity. The economy of research and innovation. Secondly, because Nikos is a politician with solid political foundations, who has been targeted by the system from which he brought large revenues to the coffers of the State,” said Stefanos Kasselakis to SYRIZA’s KO.

At the same time, the proposal that will be put to a vote includes the following changes: Giorgos Gavrilos, Yiannis Sarakiotis and Nina Kasimati are proposed for parliamentary representatives. Iota Poulou is proposed as coordinator of the sector heads and Rallia Christidou as deputy coordinator. On the contrary, Theodora Tzakri is the only one who is saved and remains in the position of K.O.’s secretary.

“Secretary of the Parliamentary Group remains Theodora Tzakri, who from the first moment she assumed this role has worked with endless endurance, and I thank her for her decisive contribution. The director of K.O remains Thanos Moraitis, who, for his part, works hard every day to resolve the issues that arise. For the positions of the three Parliamentary Representatives, I recommend Giorgos Gavrilos, Yiannis Sarakiotis and Nina Kasimati.

I propose Vassilis Kokkalis as Deputy Parliamentary Representative and Iota Poulos as EPEKE coordinator. Rallia Christidou remains the deputy coordinator of EPEKE. I wholeheartedly thank Theofilos Xanthopoulos and Dionysis Kalamatianos for their work since last October. I rely on them for maximum parliamentary efficiency”, added Stefanos Kasselakis.

SYRIZA: Famellos’ reaction

Sokratis Famellos reacted strongly and stated, among other things, that he is not resigning, so the members of the KO will decide. “This proposal leads us to an even greater introversion. Real problems are not masked by surprises and dismissals. For 11 months, the KO has been operating with unity and unity. He has produced great parliamentary work. KO is not the problem. The proposal instead of correcting the mistakes and addressing the real problems makes things much worse. I’m not giving up. To follow the procedures provided by the statute of operation of the KO. That the motion of censure against me be put to a secret vote.”

Indicative of the chaotic situation in SYRIZA is that all the associates of MPs were asked to leave the room except for a few associates of Stefanos Kasselakis, such as Manolis Kapnisakis.

Katerina Notopoulou, in her statement, turned again against Stefanos Kasselakis, saying “the manner of its convening is an absolute underestimation of the KO”. “Today we were supposed to discuss about the TIF and the proposal is about how we will break up,” noted the first member of parliament for Thessaloniki, according to information.

“I appreciate and love the comrades who were proposed to enter the presidency, but I call on them not to accept in order to save the cohesion and dignity of the parliamentary group. The president should withdraw his proposal, otherwise we will go to the polls”, he concluded.

Simeon Kedikoglou and Giorgos Karameros, according to information, put forward the proposal to postpone the meeting and to make the decisions in a second year. “If we go to a vote today we will break up or divide further. I propose an interruption of the K.O. meeting and a meeting of the executive office with the composition provided by the statute, physical presence of the president in order to find a consensual solution” Mr. Karameros is reported to have said.

Finally, after a great deal of tension, Sokratis Famellos took back what he was saying about the motion of censure and asked that the president’s motion be voted against in its entirety. This did not happen, but of course Stefanos Kasselakis will not be so happy in the four-day wedding feast that begins tomorrow because he came out seriously “caught” by yet another internal party process.

“We must proceed with the restructuring to cooperate better, we must be united against the Mitsotakis regime and I urge you to vote in favor of the proposal” said Stefanos Kasselakis, in his second appeal. Furthermore, the President of SYRIZA PS explained that he believes that it is not possible to postpone the proposal, because this will lead to the liquidation of SYRIZA.

SYRIZA: Popi Tsapanidou accepted the seat of Iliopoulos and will be sworn in on Friday

The seat of the resigned Othon Iliopoulos will be taken – as expected – by Popi Tsapanidou. In particular, Mrs. Tsapanidou, after the meeting she had at noon on Tuesday at the SYRIZA offices with the director of the political office of Stefanos Kasselakis, Manolis Kapnisakis, accepted the seat of Othona Iliopoulos and will be sworn in on Friday (30/8).

As she says on Facebook, “I assume the highest responsibility, to respond to what the Constitution and the popular verdict command.”

“A little while ago I was officially invited by the Presidium of the Parliament, based on what the Constitution, the electoral procedure and the Parliament’s regulations provide, to replace, as the first runner-up on the SYRIZA PS Statehood ballot, the seat that was left vacant.

Taking into account the fact that the SYRIZA statehood ballot has been ratified by the Greek people in two consecutive electoral contests, I assume the highest responsibility to respond to what the Constitution and the popular verdict command.”

Let us remind you that the leadership of SYRIZA ardently desired the parliamentary seat for the official opposition leader Stefanos Kasselakis himself, which is why since August 10, when Othon Iliopoulos resigned, intense pressure was exerted in this direction. In this context, Popi Tsapanidou was also invited to the “headquarters” of SYRIZA despite the absence of Stefanos Kasselakis for his wedding with Tyler Macbeth in Chania.

However, Mrs. Tsapanidou informed Mr. Kapnisakis of her intention to keep the seat of Othona Iliopoulos as first runner-up. As a result, the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, remains outside the Parliament, although in any case the issue “stumbles” on the last runner-up before Stefanos Kasselakis, Georgetta Lalis, who now belongs to the New Left and has declared that she will keep the seat.
