On July 11, 70 members of the Central Committee requested in a letter to Stefanos Kasselakis, Rania Svigou and the president of the Ethics Committee Yiannis Benisis the removal of Spirtzis, whom they -among other things- accuse of “substitutive and anti-party behavior”.
In fact, in the same letter the 70 denounced Mr. Spirtzis for his attitude towards SYRIZA president Stefanos Kasselakis.
It was preceded by the bad destruction that broke out between Christos Spirtzis and the well-known lyricist, Nikos Moraitis, who comments on social media about the internal parties of SYRIZA.
The beginning was made with the attack on those who support the president of SYRIZA Stefanos Kasselakis via the internet and attacks on those who express different opinions launched by the former minister of the party Christos Spirtzis. “They are ten people, fallen lyricists and various others, well-known and not exceptional”, said Christos Spirtzis, referring to the so-called trolls.
“I will ask you a question”, said Christos Spirtzis, “there are volunteers who deal with the internet and specifically with the internal affairs of SYRIZA, not with the New Democracy with what Kyriakos Mitsotakis is doing and the government that the whole locus;”.
As he said, “there are trolls, named and anonymous, who deal 24 hours a day and 7 days a week with the internal affairs of SYRIZA. Something is wrong”.
“So some people are paid to support Kasselakis on social media?” asked the Open journalist, with Christos Spirtzis answering: “Of course. I asked for the list of people who have a salaried relationship with SYRIZA, or at any time through SYRIZA”.
Christos Spirtzis: “I’m not afraid” the answer to the deletion
For his part, Mr. Spirtzis had clearly said that he is not going to attend today’s meeting, stating characteristically: “I congratulate the Ethics Committee that operates on August 5, but I am not available, just like the president is not.” He pointed out that “it will be an honor for him to be deleted”.
“I’m not afraid of deletion. My proposal is for there to be convergences and cooperation of wider parts of the progressive world.
Yes, if we start the deletions and that is why I also disagree with the departure of Yannis Dragasakis and all the others who have left. If we are to contribute to the further fragmentation of the progressive world, we are not setting, if you like, the best example. We do not provide the best solution for what needs to be done.
And do you know why? I am not afraid of any deletion, because I grew up politically and this is education. The politics I have in parties such as the parties of the progressive world, which have never been afraid to submit our opinions both in the institutions and in public.
Therefore, you are telling me that there is a type, I don’t want to say terrorism, but a type of pressure, not to freely express and formulate the point of view, the point of view, the point of view of every executive within SYRIZA. They don’t catch these things in parties like the democratic parties of our country and even more so the progressive parties of our country,” he said.
And he added: “If I delete, for the reasons that are the complaint, that is because I said and say I did not stop for a moment to do it, my opinion publicly, it will be a great honor for me.”
